Over the years I have worked with students of all ages and ability levels. Each student has unique goals, preferences, and learning styles, and I do my best to adapt lessons to a student’s needs. Despite these differences, there are a few core elements that every flutist needs to be successful. My ideal is for every student to accomplish the following:
.) Recognize and achieve excellence in musicianship
.) Believe in the value of his/her unique voice and contribution to the world
.) Use the body efficiently, without unnecessary effort or tension
.) Develop effective practice habits
.) Establish proper fundamentals including tone, technique, and articulation
.) Master basic tonal patterns common to many styles of music
